Connect your AI assistant via MCP
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client to LunaLift, then read your AI-search data and drive your content from your assistant in plain language.
Updated 29 September 2026
LunaLift runs a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so you can drive LunaLift from the AI assistant you already use. Connect Claude or ChatGPT once, and you can ask it in plain language what your AI-search visibility looks like, have it read your sentiment and citations, update your company profile, or start a piece of content, all without leaving your chat. Your assistant becomes the driver; the analysis and the writing still run on LunaLift.
Before you start
Two things make the connection work:
- A LunaLift account you can sign in to. The connection uses your normal login, so finish sign-up first if you have not.
- An MCP-capable client: Claude (Desktop, Web, or Code), or ChatGPT with custom connectors (some ChatGPT plans put this behind Developer mode).
Your assistant signs in as you and can act only for the companies your account already covers.
The connection URL
Everything runs through one HTTPS endpoint:
https://api.lunalift.ai/mcp
That is all your client needs. It reads the sign-in details from the server, so there is nothing else to configure.
Add LunaLift to your assistant
Claude (Desktop or Web): open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Name it LunaLift, paste the URL above, and save. Claude shows a Connect button; click it to sign in.
Claude Code: run this once. The first tool call then opens the sign-in in your browser:
claude mcp add --transport http lunalift https://api.lunalift.ai/mcp
ChatGPT: add a custom connector under Settings, then Connectors. Set the server URL, and choose OAuth. LunaLift's MCP is OAuth only, so do not paste an API key.
Sign in once
The first time your assistant calls a tool, it opens the LunaLift sign-in page. Log in with your normal account and approve the connection. There is no token to paste and nothing to register. Your session is tied to you rather than to one company, and it refreshes on its own.
Pick which company to act for
If your account covers more than one company, choose one by name so your assistant knows whose data to read. Ask it to list your companies (luna_v1_list_my_companies) and select one (luna_v1_select_company). After that the other tools need no company argument, and only names cross the connection, never IDs.
What you can do once connected
Ask in plain language and your assistant picks the tool. It can read your AI-search data: visibility, sentiment, citations, and the AI-bot and AI-referred traffic on your site. It can update your company profile, and it can plan or author content. Anything that changes or deletes data asks you to confirm once before it runs, so a stray request cannot quietly rewrite your profile. The heavy content work still runs on LunaLift's side; your assistant starts it and reports back.
Troubleshooting
401 or unauthenticated: your login expired. Reconnect the connector and sign in again; nothing is lost.
company_not_selected: you have not picked a company yet. List your companies and select one by its exact name.
Next: pull the same data through the API
Prefer scripts to a chat? The same numbers are available over the REST API. See Get your AI-traffic data out via the API for the key-based path.
